Asheenia Johnson is a community advocate currently dividing her time between Jersey City and Atlanta. She graduated from New Jersey City University with a BA in Economics and is currently completing her Masters in Public Administration at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Her work experience includes banking, radio programming and hosting, re-entry and first time offender assistance, and grant management. She has worked in the Office of the Public Defender, New Jersey City University, the City of Jersey, the County of Hudson, and as an aide to both state and local legislators. She is the CEO of Johnson Himaya Inc., a firm that specializes in business formation, registration, copyright, trademark and patent filing.

Asheenia has volunteered with various local and national organizations including, Jersey City Anti-Violence Coalition Movement, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Jersey City Public Safety Advisory Board, Jersey City Ad Hoc Committee to Review Police Policy and Procedure, Jersey City Arts Council, Barrow Mansion Development Corporation and the NAACP. Additionally, Asheenia has fostered relationships with various grassroots, civil rights/social justice activists and organizations throughout the country and often attends or participates in their events and conferences in other cities.

Asheenia’s community focus includes working on legislation and programs that will aid in facilitating positive relationships and interaction between law enforcement and minority communities, violence prevention programs and resources, mentoring youth, social and economic equity initiatives and collecting hygiene products for residents in need. She accomplishes these things through partnering with community organizations, members of the legal community, elected officials, law enforcement and other key stakeholders. She is unapologetically pro-Black and a quote that drives her passion for community is "Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter," said by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
