Cognitive Dissonance

We all do it. We hold two conflicting beliefs at the exact same time, and we try to act like everything is fine. But deep down, that tension, that mental tug-of-war—eats away at us. It shapes how we remember who we were, how we justify who we are, and how we sabotage who we want to become.
Psychologists call it cognitive dissonance. Most of us just call it "getting through the day."
